Why do we study the mouse brain? Its much simpler than the primate brain. There’s still a lot we don’t know.
The mouse brain has around 40 distinct areas, as opposed to the monkey which has around 130 (note that these areas are rather fuzzy in location and segment).
Some cortical areas are thought to be homologous. That is they share a common evolutionary origin.
