The parietal lobe is mainly responsible for
- merging various sensory stimulus together
- mapping internal states to external information and goals.
- numerical cognition, ability to do math lives here as well
The inferior parietal lobule has different roles on the right and left brain
- damage to the left → apraxia (difficulty doing)
- Ideomotor Apraxia Inability to perform gestures on command
- Ideational Apraxia: Difficulty with sequencing multi-step tasks
- damage to the right → neglect (difficulty attending, aware of one’s space)
- blind of the left side
In Robotics
Responsible for Measurement Fusion and Multi-sensor Fusion ;)… Also responsible for mapping between internal states ( proprioception and stateEstimation , worldModeling, configuration, and others) and external information ( perception , action).
