The parietal lobe is mainly responsible for

  • merging various sensory stimulus together
  • mapping internal states to external information and goals.
  • numerical cognition, ability to do math lives here as well

The inferior parietal lobule has different roles on the right and left brain

  • damage to the left apraxia (difficulty doing)
    • Ideomotor Apraxia Inability to perform gestures on command
    • Ideational Apraxia: Difficulty with sequencing multi-step tasks
  • damage to the right neglect (difficulty attending, aware of one’s space)
    • blind of the left side

In Robotics

Responsible for Measurement Fusion and Multi-sensor Fusion ;)… Also responsible for mapping between internal states ( proprioception and stateEstimation , worldModeling, configuration, and others) and external information ( perception , action).
